Last couple days

Hey everyone, sorry its been a few days. Things have been absolutly crazy around here. We had 4 groups arrive yesterday, and we had Monitiel, VdJ and Bethesda here for a pool party. The kids loved all the group members. We had a cookout, and made Pollo Hambergers, which is chicken. It is pretty good, especially with some melted queso, chedder chesse. ooooh its good.
Anyways today we took a group from Sacred Heart from Indiana, to Rio 3. A lot has been going on out there. The area is still a mess, but the homes are really starting to sprout up. Families are getting back on there feet, and surprisingly the Government is helping out alot. Today they had a couple medical teams there helping people, and all this week sanitaion crews have been cleaning up garbage and mud of the streets. The River has gone down alot, and people are crossing again saftly, but the water is still extremly polluted, and many of the people and kids are getting sick. So today and last week, we have been taking PURE packets that were donated by P&G and filtering water for them to drink. Most of the people there make there living by picking up garbage, so many have been getting alot because the city is a mess. Thety have there little horse and buggy and go around and get garbage. They may only recieve 50 pesos, like 5 bucks, but its money, and they dont have to pay for gas, lol. God has really been presant there thse past couple weeks, and I know I keep telling you all this, it just amazes me the Spirit in the people there. They are enjoying there life, and accepting what is in front of them. They are true children of Christ!
As we got back to our proerty today, something was different. There wasnt water running through the property anymore. Ever since the Hurricane we have had septic overflow of the mountain coming up through the ground. Its been stinky and nasty. But today the water slowed up and stoped, and the ground began to dry up. yay!!! It still stinks a bit, but no more sinkholes, and water control!!
Great day, and Im excited to see what God has instore for me tomorrow!

June 14 and 15

Yesterday we went to Rio 3 and did alot of outreach. We took a walk through the area and it was very eye opening for the group. We took and passed out CABI clothes to all the ladies. they were loving it. There is a building next to the church that B2B is going to rent, to do outreach, and it also has appartments in it, so we are thinking of letting Olga, the Director of the church, and her famliy live there.  The group painted the front of the buliding, and cleaned up some of the inside. The Uncle Tims and I worked on the water system there, and came up with a new filtration sytem for the two tanks. It was a great day, and we ate Pollo Loco, soo good. The Rio is still amess though. The distruction and smells are just horrible, and only getting worse. But the smiles of the people are ever so bright. Just walking through the area, you see people enjoying there life, and not worring about what they have lost.It always amazes me how little these people have and how much joy and Faith they have because of that. I got to hang out with Tonio again. He was the light in my day!
Today we took the kids from Moniteil and VDJ Bowling and then to get Ice Cream. It was a crazy day, but we all fun with our little buddies.
This week has been awesome to spend with my family and friends. I am sad to see them go tomorrow, But I know God has got great plans for them when they step of that plane Tomorrow Night!! Please pray for safe travels home tomorrow.

July 12

Yesterday we went back to del Norte and did a tone of work. We continued to did footer holes, and also laid some concrete. Uncle Tim Geiger worked with Mauricio, one of our staff members, and they did maintenence on all the AC units at the home. Uncle Tim Gellenbeck worked with Sarah and Julia on the playground somemore. They got the roof frame done, and ready for the sheet metal. Laura found a lawnmower and of course was all over cutting the grass. she has fun. The mower they had looked like one of those toy ones. It plugged in. I kept waiting for bubbles to come out the top. PJ, Trisha, and Ben helped with the footer holes, and Sarah helped paint a Property wall behind the Auditorium. Betsy was the all around ladie she helped everywhere. Mary Joe was sick again, but she went out today, and was feeling better.
Today is my day off. I was going to go with the group today, but decided to stay because I am pretty wooped, and needed some rest. They went to Villa de Juarez today which is out by the airport. B2B recently just purchased a new property for the home. The home has 3 location, including a boys and girls home. The idea is to renovate the property and move all the kids to the one site.
So I have been reading the book crazy Love. It is written by Frances Chan, and is such a great book, you all should read it!! But today I was reading in the chapter called profile of the obbsessed. and One of the quotes was talking about our sins, and how many times we try and dumb down our sins when we ask for forgivness. The quote says, "People who are obsessed are raw with God; they do not attempt to mask the ugliness of their sins or their faliures. Obsessed people don't put a show on for God; He is their place, where they can be at peace." and I think why do I try and and act like my sins wernt all that bad, or change slighty what I did to make it sound better. God already knows what I did! so why are do I try to cover it up, or make it sound different.
I have been learning alot latley about Gods grace for me. Grace is something that God gives not for any reason except his undenying Love he has for each of us. No matter what we do God still loves us. We should Love God the exact same way as well. Gods grace is so great, and it shows us the passion and pursuit that God has for our Hearts. God is always there to pick us up, and he is always there to tell us, I told you so. He is always there cheering us on in difficult situations. I think the biggest thing I am trying to say is that, God Loves you, and will always always be there by your side. He wants to help you in every aspect of your life, and he cares so much about us that he sent his one and only son to Die on a Cross for Us. I challenge you, Just as God has been challenging me, to open up your heart and allow God to pour into you. He wants you to come to him in your need, and your struggles. He even wants to hear your sins, no matter how bad you think they may be. Trust in him, and you will never go Hungry.
This week the sun has been out, and the warm weather is back. The mountains are ever so beautiful, and the birds are chirping. As great as this is, the situations at the Rios are still very bad. now that the heat is back, the smell of the grabage, and the sewage there is getting worse and worse. we are afraid that sicknesses may break out and desease because of the bad water and unsanitary conditions. I ask for your continued prayers and blessings upon all these people, and all those who are struggling in these situations.

It was great to see everyone all working hard and working together today. This morning at Church, Our Mexican worship leader asked everyone to to some moves to the songs. I looked at some of there faces, and they were like, "Really" lol. But they all did it and It was great to see them all worshiping our God. The spirit totally came into there Hearts today, and tonight at debrief, the stories and images that God placed in there Hearts will forever change them. I am very excited for the rest of this week and to see how God will work in them even more. Forgot to steal dads pictures so I will upload those tomorrow and show you all. Miss you Lynn!!

Understanding God

This past week we have experienced many difficulties, and challenges. The things I have seen and experineced at the places we serve I cant even fully explain. Last tuesday the rain started, and didnt top until sunday. We have had thunderstorms and flooding all week. The Hurricane hit us Thursday night last week, and as you could see from the video the damage that we had on our property was pretty ad. This weekend we went out to the rios where we serve, and i was in shock at what I saw. The river 50 yards wider, the ground 10 feet lower, and not a single house or remnent visable. 2 days ago we walked down to a house where we know 2 ladies ived. The house is made of cinder block, and was still standing, but was full of 4 feet of mud. One of the ladies is 80 years old, and she lives with her daughter who is 61yrs old and her daughters husband. They are both missing a leg due to circulation, and are in wheel chairs. The house is only 15x10ft wide. They barly made it out before the river rose. We walked down to the house because one of the ladies left her passport and visa there, so we went to try and find it. After 2 hours of digging through the mud and sludge in the house we still hadnt found them. We searched every inch, and couldnt find it.
Out front they had an old minivan that didnt run. It was also stuck in 4 feet of mud. They wanted to get it out and sell it so that they could get money to build a new home closer to the road and away from the river. so we started digging, and got the tires and side uncovered. There was still mud under the car that we couldnt get though, so we asked a guy that was using a backhoe if he could help us. after serveral faid attemps and some good laughs, we finally got it out. Unfortunatly my camera died and I didnt get a video of us pulling it out, but here is one of the failed attemps haha.
After we got the car out, I was behind the house looking at the river, and the had been a little boy that was hanging out with us all day. His name was Antonio, but we called him Tonio. He is always at the church and loves to help us out pouring concrete and digging. He is only about 6 years old, and has a good little Heart. Anyway he was hanging out with me, and all of the sudden he said, "hey come here lets swing." and I looked at where he was pointing, and say an old swing set buried in the mud, and it was on a slant. My first thought was are you kiding me? lol. and he said again, Come on "Vamos", which means "lets go". and he went over to the swing set and unrolled the swing down and started to swing. he only went like a foot, but he didnt care. After a minute he said, "Vamos Adan" and he got out of swing and unrolled the other swing down for me. And I think of the Heart of tis little 6 year old. having nothing, and yet he still wants to give. This past weekend I was reading a Verse in Matthew, 18:3, and it states "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." .....And I thought of this verse as little Tonio asked me to swing with him. And the verse just clicked in my head. Here is this little child, who could care less about the broken swingset he was on, or the wet cloths he was in, or even that he no longer had a home. His heart was full of Joy. and I feel that this is what God wants us to feel like. He doesnt want us to worry about what to do next, or how to do it. But he does want us to enjoy what is right in front of us. As we get older we get smarter, well some of us, and we begin to feel as though we can take control of our lives. Planning things out, schedules about tomorrow or next week. But God says why plan something that you cant control. As a child our minds dont think this way. We are clueless to many things, and we dont have control. Our mindset is to find the Joy in things, that are right before our eyes. And God says if you continue to look to the future, you will miss what I have to offer you right now. We are Gods Children, and he wants us to act and be his children. But we cant do that unless we completley understand how to not just be a child, but a child of God. He loves us sooo much, and all he wants us to do is Love him Back, and Follow in is Sons Name. I challenge you to see where you may need to losen up a bit, and swing on the swings with Tonio and I.
I have enjoyed this past week even though it has been crazy and the devestation I have seen is very bad. I have grown in my fellowship not Just with the other inturns but also with the staff. Latly I have trying to turn my perspective around, and truly realize God in the worst situtions. Now I havnt a clue what the Big Mans plans are, but I think as a true believer and follower, that even when we may feel down or sorrowful, and ask God why, that we must realize that he has a plan in all this. I have seen familys homeless, in wet cloths, sleeping in raw sewage, and on dirt and mud. I have seen destruction and hurt, and pain. I have seen starvation, and neglect. But I have also seen families growing closer together. I have seen more community in the people. I have seen the men coming to church for the first time. I have seen people who dont even know Christ asking, "who is this God, and why does he care about me. I have seen God in the hearts and eyes of the people when we ask, if they need something. I see God in the strange look I get when I ask " Can I pray for you?" And I see God in the Kids even when they sneek back in line to snag another hotdog. God is in Everyone, and is everywhere. Even in the destruction of of this storm God says, I love you, and I will take care of you. For God who has the whole plan, the whole map of my life, your life, and everyone elses life drawn out, he says, "trust me , I know what Im doing up here."
The other night all the inturns were praying about the storm and the people in the Rios. And I was thinking of a song that Kim Walker sings called "How he Loves". and the lyrics say that Gods Love is like a hurricane and I am a tree, bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.  and that verse just stands out to me. If we have our full trust and Faith in God, this Hurricane can never and will never ripp us out of the ground. Now it may make us sway a bit, but the root of our faith, my faith and your faith has to be completly solid in the Ground, in order for us to understand Gods purpose in all this. We will never know Gods plan, but we must plant our selves deep into his Love and mercy and accept all that he has to offer, and truly experience the Joy of him in each and every day.
This week Our church comes St. John Nuemann. I am exciteced to see my parents and my uncles and Cousin and also our church comunity. I am very anxious to see how God is going to work in there Hearts, and I am anxious to share my passion for minisrty and my Love for these kids with them. I ask that you please keep this group in your thoughts and Prayers. God I pray that you completely overwelm this group with you Love and that you show them How to become a true child of Christ.
I wish you all a great weekend
Much Love

sorry its been so long

Hey everyone, Things have been absoluty crazy here with the Hurricane. Tonight is the first night we have had power since last tues. It keeps coming on and off, and the internet and cell service is horrible. The hurricane has been a disater in the places we serve. I am still processing alot of what has happened, and Im not sure how and where to start. I havnt really had a good nights sleep in week and a half, so I am going to keep it short tonight. But I will fill you all in very soon. The Rios were we serve are completly destroyed. Nothing is left at Rio 3. I have a lot of Video footage of Rio 3 and I am working on getting it uploaded. Here is a video of our property after the hurricane. We are estimating about $70,000 of damage over the entire ministry. There wasnt much damage at the Childrens homes, but the Rios took the worst of the storm.Today it finally stoped raining, but we have another storm coming these next 2 days.
We have been reparing the property, and getting it ready for the next storm. I thank you all for your prayers, and blessings, and I ask that you please continue to keep the people in the Rios in your prayers. I trust God in all this, and I am seeking him in all the distaster. I feel as if he is testing my Faith in this a bit, and making sure I truly trust him. It is hard when I see people suffering, and homeless, but I know God will prevale in there hearts as well as mine if I Believe in Him. Please be praying for my physical and spiritual strength. Sorry for the short blog, wanted to let you all know I was alive. Not sure when the electric will be on or off, so I will blog if we have it tomorrow. I will upload somemore videos and I promise fill you all in.
Much Love

June 30 Hurricane Alex Hits

Last night it started to rain, and it hasnt stopped since. I went to del norte today and we did some work but not much because of the rain. Juanita and did puzzles. A couple of the groups went out to the Rios, the squatters villages we serve at, and passed out tarps and flashlights. The rain is just pouring and is constant with no let up. I am very worried about the people in these villages because they do not have homes to protect them from the weather. I pray that God will shelter them with his heart and love, and keep them safe. Psalm 91.
The roads here in mexico dont have sewer systems to collect the water. so the roads just flood. Here are some pics from today. I swipped a couple of them of one of my friend Cassie's Blog. It is crazy to see this, and how people drive through it. When we got back, we began hooking up generators and water pumps. I am not sure how much longer we will have power so this could be my last blog for a couple days. I will keep you posted on the situation down here. sad thing is that this is only the beginging. The storm actually hits tomorrow afternoon. Our campus has already begun to flood, and out cieling leaks in our room. But I trust you God. You have got something planned up there, I just know it.
Please keep the people in the Rios in your prayers.

Uncle Tim
The verse Matthew 18:3 says "And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
Children dont always worry about things, they are more trusting and just go with the flow. I think that God is telling us to be like that with him. Not to worry about tomorrow of yesterday, and to accept things for what they are, trusting God that what has happened is his will. A childs heart is so fragile, as I have learned down here. But when they are determined to do something, they do it, regardless of the consequences, and regardless to what others think of them. I know that I am always worring about what others think of me, and I constantly consult others to see what they think, and if that sounds good, or right. But God wants us to to stop relying on people all the time and Just trust him in every situation.
One thing I have learned About the Bible, is that each verse holds something incredable. It is usually not always obvious, but God never says it will be easy. John 16:33 in this world you will have troubles, but take heart, I have overcome the world. He wants us to think, and to be stumped sometimes. If it just came to us, it wouldnt mean as much.
Hope this helps. This what I got from it.

June 28,29

Today is my day off. It feels great to relax a bit and sleep in. Yesterday I went to Douglas and we did some cleaning and painting in the kids dorms. we also have been working on putting bathrooms on the back side of the chapel, so we worked on the roof putting up shiggles. spelled that wrong haha. It was a great day with the kids. David and Asiel were running around and they had fun. we took the boys back to our property for a pool party in the sfternoon and they had a great time. Both the two boys have little chunky bellys so they are a bunch of cuties! The little girl in the picture is Fatima. she is just 3 years old, and can talk your ear off. she loves to take my hat and glasses. she calls me nino feo, which is ugly boy. No idea why, but she is goofy. She has so much energy though, and just loves to play around, and be held.
This morning Ruby, our staff kids teacher, left to go home for a few weeks. She works with groups during June when the kids get out of school, and then goes home in July to fundraise. This summer she is going home for a week and then going to Nigeria with B2B to serve for 2 weeks. Many blessings and prayers to her for safe travels, and a great time. I know that God will lead her and Jessica Biondo, another staff teacher, and will show tham great things in his Kingdom in Africa.
God has been doing so many things in my Heart these last 6 weeks, and it is crazy to think that I have already been here this long. God has really been challenging me to trust him in every aspect of my life. It is hard to surrender all to him, and to stop relying on my self and others to always get through things. That is not to say that we shouldnt trust other people. By far we should love and walk with each other even our enimies at all time. But doing so in Christ. I was reading in 1 Peter today chapter 4, about how we as christians need to come together as fellow Brothers and sisters of Christ and walk with God togther. But in walking with God, we trust in his will together, just as the Bible tells us. It says to do this with all our Heart, and to not complain no matter how hard or painful it can be. I am always humbled by situations as to "walking with my enemy. But God says if you truly trust and honor me you will do it. and I think, our lives are just a fraction of what God has to offer us in eternity. and I think of my life, and the crazyness and surgerys, and beliefs that I might not be here the next day. and I cant tell you the blessings that God has given me through that. I found him through this. Through you all and through your support and Love and your prayers. and I feel like God keeps telling me, I put you through this, and you cant even trust me to help you get through this one day. I have given your Life, and great family and friends to be with.
I think that the sound of trusting in God sometimes sounds radical to people. But maybe that is because they truly do not Know God. God isnt always that picture we see of the almighty one, or the cross we see at church. God isnt just at church or we we pray. But God is everywhere and in everything. He is in our actions and our thoughts, he is with us when we make mistakes. He is with us when we ignore him, and fall on our face, but he is still there to tell us "I told you so". He is in our converstions, and our Hearts when we feel for others. He is in our Friend ships, and our love for one another. God is everything in this spriritual world that we live in. This temporary Human experience that we are going through. is just a fraction of what is to come in the kingdom of God. Trust him, because when you find him, in your heart, in your family, in your friends, you cant let go of it. He loves you and he wants to be with you. I live by this challenge everyday. But God doesnt want it to be a challenge. He just wants us to follow him. And by following him, we do it not in the name of our church or denomination. Not in the name of our ministry or community, but literally in his sons name Jesus Christ.

June 27

today we had church at Douglas and then went to ERJ and did some painting and work on the bathrooms. Mexico played Argintina today in soccer, or Futball, so it was a big day for Mexico. The kids were all huddled around the 10 in tv trying to watch the game. Mexico lost but it was a great game. Our bus today keeped over heating and having engine problems. We had to stop about every 10 min to put water in to cool it off. It was a long bus ride, and there was a beeping noise that would go on every time the bus overheated. I feel like God was really testing our patience, and that he puts us in these situations manytime for us to realize that everything happens in his timing and not ours.

June 26

Yesterday Mr. Kersey, Kurts dad came, so we went to the airport to pick him up. It was great to see and catch up with him. Kurts sister just had a baby so we got to see all the pictures. We ate dinner with Todd and Beth, the directors, and then we had worship as inturns, and then a salsa and Birthday party for Memo, one of the students in our program. Today we had about 180 new group members arrive. It has been a crazy day, but it went well. Del Norte was here so I got to see Juanita and Victor, and all my other little kiddies. It was great to see her and spend some time with her. Victoria was happy to see her as well. Sorry I didnt get any pics. left my camera up in the room. I know God has been working in these kids and especially the kids in our program. It is so amazing to see the spirit working inside of these teens and kids.
I hope all is going well back home. Thanks forthe comments, it is great to hear from you all!

June 23

Today we went to Rio 3 with Jim and Betty. I got to work with Kurt as well. We went and talked with 2 ladies at there home there. They live in a house that is 10x15 feet. and it has no water plumbing or gas. the only venelation is when the window is open. They each have lost a leg from circulation problems. But today when we went in to pray with them, they could only pray for us. not once did they ask God for something for them, but instead thead they prayed for us and thanked God for us. they both have an amazing heart and it is inspiring to see there faith in Christ. We did some out reach there as well. we brought clothes and also toys for the kids. Later we poured some concrete!! This evening we had extended worship! I began the night with all kinds of questions and struggles just in where God is leading me. but some how God grabed ahold of me through prayer and fellowship, and a feeling came over me of content. I felt like God was saying give me your worrys and troubles. dont ask questions you know you wont know, and trust me because I know everything, and you dont need to know it all. He lifted my heart up, and put my on a cloud. I felt free and weightless. It has been an amazing 3 weeks and I cant tell you how much God is doing here. I am very excited for my parents and my church to come down in 2 weeks, and I am anxious to see how God will work in there hearts and transform them into someone greater than they could have ever imagined.

June 22

Today I went to Del Norte with Gabo and Todd. We poured half of a draveway in concrete. It was a very busy day!! I think I got more concrete in my shoes than in the trompo mixer. Today I was just so physically drained. I was tired after working and just wanted to relax. But I found today again just why I love serving Gods children here. The feeling of being spiritually filled by a kid is so amazing! Here I am just tired as all get out, and here comes Juanita and Annita, Sarai and Bionca. They all gather aroubd me an we just start talking and laughing. And out of no where I get this energy to play with them and chase them around. We had an amzing time, and to see and feel the Spirit working in my heart and in there was amazing. When it was time to leave, I said good by, and Juanita and Annita gave me a big hug! It felt incredible to be so full of the presence of God in those tiny little arms. You truly are amazing God, and I thank you for this increadible day and jour Love for me and these Children. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

June 21

Today was my day off. I got to sleep in and relax a bit. I ate Vita left over massed potatoes noodles and Chicken for lunch!. soooo good. I worked on the Imperio de Amor video for several hours and got that done!! so glad. 2 videos down 10 more to go haha. I am going back to del Norte Tomorrow, and I cant wait to see Juanita. We had our small groups tonight. It was great to meet and get to know some of the other interns better. This weeks topic is about our Idenity in Christ. We talked alot about how we place our identity in other worldly things. I myself struggle to put my identity in my school work, and certain groups, like crusade. I think that it is so important that we realize that we are first and foremost children of God, and that we are by far his greatest treasure. We as spiritual beings in our Human experince tend to label human things as spiritual or Godly, when in fact they are not. I have been learning to grow in my walk by identifying my self not as a student, or a crusader or misiionary, or the #1 Heavyweights fan, but in fact a child of God. and I challege all of you to find the things that are keeping you from realizing your identity in Christ, and ask the Holy Spirit to come into your heart and transform you into someone greater than you could ever imagine. God is alway there, just talked to him. He will listen. But be willing to listen back! be willing be willing be willing. he will hear you, I promise!

June 20

Hey I am sorry I have not written in a few days. My apologies, and sorry to worry you Grandma. It has been very busy her, and I ve been getting in late. We have over 150 group members this week, and its a little caotic. We had a pool party with the Monietiel kids yesterday and also a new Casa Hogar called Bethany. B2b just got connected with them, and we are thinking about partnering with them. The kids were really good, and had a great time. Today we had Church at Douglas. It was great, the douglas kids all laid hands on the group members and prayed with them. I got to go to del norte this afternoon!! The playground is coming along. No footer holes today haha. I actually got to hang out with Juanita and here brother Victor for about 3 hours today. It was so great to hang out with them and play. Juanitabis coming out of her shell a little, and getting more comfortable. she has the cutest lttle laugh!! Check out the video from today.
God has been so many great things in my heart this past week. I am learning so much from him, and growing in my faith. I have trusted God with many aspects of my life, but I am continuing to learn that I have to surrened all to him in order to fully accept the Holy Spirit. As I am learning, I see before my very eyes God not only working in my Heart but in those of the kids, and the staff and my fellow interns. We have been growing so close, and it is amazing to see God bringing us to different opportunities to share with one another. The summer is passing by fast, and I am excited that I can share this passion with my new great friends. As each one of us has our own walk with Christ, we can trully come together here in Monterrey and share in serving Gods will by looking after his children.
